Stonebride nurtures progressive psychedelic rock’n’roll with a fuzziness of stoner rock, the dirtiness of Seattle grunge scene alongside with subtle doses of doom and sludge metal, but even with all these comparations, Stonebride encompasses so many influences along the way, it’s nearly impossible to grasp them all. Animal On Display is their latest comprehensive collection comprised of four colorful compositions that derive more than meets the eye in the first place. The band is pretty much active since its beginnings back in 2005. and so far they’ve published a dozen of impressive recordings such as Smile & Shine EP (DIY, 2006), Inner Seasons LP (Setalight Records, 2008), Summon The Waves LP (Setalight Records, 2010), and Heavy Envelope LP (PDV Records, Setalight Records, 2008). Animals On Display delivers evolved sound of Stonebride that shapeshifts towards alternative and Seattle grunge music but also blends up all the best elements of stoner rock, sludge and doom metal. The band settles their sound around magnificent progressive desert rock shreddings, but their music includes some notable doses of post-rock or post-metal elements as well. Stonebride levitates between calmy melodic segments that are mostly presented through pleasant verses, so they leave a lot of room to express themselves at the powerful choruses, mostly cherished by the enormous portions of dynamics. From brilliant shreddings, magnificent fuzzy basslines to the interesting drumming sequences, Stonebride are giving their best efforts to display a transcendent sound of 90s music, but with so much awareness about the modern music trends. Animals On Display has been empowered by the undoubtfully tremendous artwork that goes immensely with the presented compositions. The artwork depicts enlightenment gathered by opening chakras. The unknown humanoid entity has been decorated with the astronomical chart, light bursts and it has been enhanced by the dirtiness of grunge textures and dotwork effects. This astounding imagery pairs perfectly to the introduced material and the package itself has been thoughtfully designed. Animals On Display has been published by PDV Records on 12” vinyl, compact disc, but it’s also available on all streaming services, so dig deep into the vast universe of alternative desert rock empowered by various musical enhancements.
