hairpin To Release New Single On May 29th

Framing is hairpin’s first single in over a year and the first to feature Callan Milward on drums, following the release of Modern Day Living. Musically the new single leans toward the band’s hardcore influences, while still anchored by the power pop sensibility found on their debut. 

The song centres on the frustration of reasoning with an immovable viewpoint, using a boxing ring as a metaphor for the combative nature of a one-sided argument, where winning trumps learning and context is dead. “Nuance has become a casualty of modern discourse,” says Adam Edwards (vocals, guitar), “people pick their team, adopt the positions wholesale, and bend themselves out of shape to defend it — with no desire for discussion.” Continuing their DIY approach, the single was recorded and mixed by Edwards at his studio, Community Noise, and was mastered by Brad Boatright (Audiosiege).  Framing builds on the gritty guitars, driving bass lines and pounding drums that defined Modern Day Living and is out 29th May.
