Rotterdam outfit Tramhaus share fierce punk gloom of new single ‘Swarm’
Sharing the second teaser from forthcoming studio album Blister – due for release on 9th October in collaboration 6 independent labels across Europe – journeyed Rotterdam indie-rock outfit Tramhaus offer up thrashing punk gloom with new single ‘Swarm’, out today (26th August).
Recorded in the depths of the Ardennes forest after 18 months of near-constant touring across 3 continents, ‘Swarm’ captures the sound of a Tramhaus weathered, but infinitely wiser. A loud-quiet-loud gut-punch maelstrom of goth-rock restraint and hardcore frenzy, the single barks and hollers with all the captivating chaos of an eruptive Tramhaus‘ live show, which supports Gurriers on their UK tour this October, heads across East Asia in September, hitting practically every country in Europe by next spring.
Following the KEXP-premiered single ‘Plovdiv’, and support from BBC 6Music, Stereogum, The Line of Best Fit, Far Out, Rough Trade, and more, forthcoming album Blister captures a sense of communal, embodied, patience through experiences of queues, denials of entry, soundchecks, lonely hotel rooms and international dealings – good and bad. Tramhaus, who have an ability to soak up what life brings and find a way collectively – and bodily – to deal with it, pushing Tramhaus forwards is their gang mentality, and core belief that a network of global friendships patiently built up over the last five years will see them right.
Speaking more about the track, Tramhaus say: “‘Swarm is a song about the individual self, and its corresponding image – are you made by the ideas of others, or are you a product of your own thoughts?’ “
Notorious for their expansive live schedule (and pummelling live shows), the band played 124 times in 22 countries in support of the record. Having already chalked up multiple tours of East Asia (a third is coming) and the US, and spanning all four corners of Europe, from Tallinn to Tromso and Istanbul to Lisbon, Tramhaus have also notched several cornerstone festivals from SXSW, to Primavera Sound and The Great Escape. True to form, the band will be on an European run until April 2027, spanning 80+ dates in most European countries.
Testament to Tramhaus’s broad international network of collaborators that prioritises the organic, grassroots side of the industry and a belief in bringing the band to audiences beyond the regular touring circuit, new album Blister will be released in collaboration with six separate independent labels across six European countries.
