Greifswald, Germany indie-folk artist Fields Of Mildew recently released a brand new single. Fog is the first single that announces the upcoming compilation called The Complete Woes, which contains six numbers in total. Fog is a calmy, soothing, melancholic dark-folk composition that carries a vividly hearable cinematic ambiance. You may also notice some other elements like folk-rock, goth rock, soft rock, but Fields Of Mildew sticks to a dark, misty, mysterious ambiance from scratch to finish. The artist used his vocals, acoustic, and electric guitars as the main sound sources, while the percussions are responsible for minimalistic beats that lurk in the background.
Fog represents a neverending walk through life, comprising of unpredicted moments, situations, and various circumstances. The point of this soothing composition is to describe a lifetime as an individual struggle, despite being surrounded by family, acquaintances, and loved ones. No matter how many people surround and support us, there are particular things in life we have to bear on our own. Fog is a composition dedicated to those isolated moments when life puts physical and mental strength to the test.

As the artist said: “Fog” was inspired by Hermann Hesse, one of my favorite German authors. For me, it’s like a lonely walk through the mist – far away from the world, giving in to blurry thoughts and reflection. As Hesse puts it in the poem: ‘Life is loneliness’. No matter how many friends we have and had, no matter how wise or experienced people are, even if we have loved ones at our side and live a fulfilled life… in the end, everyone still carries their own burdens, deals with their own sorrows, and dies on their own. ‘Each is alone.’
Fog is available for listening on all streaming platforms.
