Edmonton, Alberta experimental duo Pigeon Breeders have released their latest full-length album, Springtime As Violence. Offering a cathartic journey through creation, destruction, and tension, the record showcases a broad toolkit of guitars, vocals, electronics, and contact-mic’d objects that appeal to fans of noise rock, krautrock, and ambient post-rock.
Inspired by a phrase provided by dancer Max Hanic, the band abandoned their usual open-improvisation recording method. Instead, they built each track layer by layer around predetermined constraints while retaining an adventurous spirit. Operating as a duo following the departure of co-founder Tyler Harland, Pigeon Breeders evolve their sound to new heights, balancing soft beauty with harsh, striking sonic landscapes. Springtime As Violence is streaming on Bandcamp and digital services now.
