Linus Klausenitzer - Tulpa DLP

Tulpa” is a debut full-length album by Linus Klausenitzer, a Swiss multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, composer, and bass player known for his work with Obscura, Obsidian, Alkaloid, Eternity’s End, Fallacy, Illusen’s Fallacy, and Noneuclid. This full-length release consists of ten exceptional compositions separated on two vinyl records. Soundwise, Klaunsenitzer explores many metal subgenres and beyond. Perhaps subcategories of death metal like Swedish melodic death, progressive death metal, symphonic death, deathrash, and classic death metal come to mind first, but you’ll also stumble upon other styles like progressive metal, symphonic metal, deathcore, metalcore, post-metal, neoclassical, and many more. These experimentations with various styles resulted in a comprehensive collection of wisely arranged compositions that shine with sheer experience, tremendous creativity, talent, brilliant ideas, and impressive musicianship.

The list of contributors is more than impressive. Besides Klausenitzer’s creative genius, which is unquestionably a centerpiece of Tulpa, you’ll also hear vocal and instrumental performances of Javi Perera (Obsidious), Ian Waye (Soreption), Aaron Homma (Annihilator, Killitorous), Vanesa Jalife, Hannes Grossmann (Alkaloid, Triptykon, Ex-Obscura, Ex-Necrophagist), Roland Grapow (Masterplan, Ex-Helloween), Phil Tougas (First Fragment, Chthe’ilist), Ian Waye (Soreption), V. Santura (Triptykon), Dee Dammers (U.D.O., Dirkschneider), Chris Hermsdörfer (Beyond The Black, Serenity), and Nicolas Alberny (Gorod). Their contributions to this death metal masterpiece shine in all its glory in particular or multiple compositions, and you’ll undoubtedly notice it since they highlighted some segments or the entire songs with their musicianship. These musicians also direct the ambiance and pace of these songs, but the entire material sounds unified, organized, and cohesive, and it acts like an audio book consisting of perfectly assembled sonic tales.

Of course, Klausentizer thought about everything while assembling this tremendous album. Therefore, you’ll hear even the tiniest detail implemented in every segment of each song. Every song is profoundly detailed, complex, and entirely stacked with impressive screams, growls, and shouts that flawlessly emphasize all the themes, leads, intricate guitar solos various guitar, catchy chord progressions, heavy riffs, and other virtuosities and shreds. The superb drumming performance navigates groove and pace with tremendous precision by delivering many impressive rhythmic sequences and maneuvers, beats, breaks, fills, and other percussive acrobatics. Still, Klausentizer’s performance is what makes this album a standout on the modern death metals scene. His virtuosities performed on a regular and fretless bass guitar will represent such a treat to anyone even remotely interested in this particular instrument. The progressive themes, leads, solos, scales, and other magnificent, progressive, complex orchestrations define the path of Tulpa in so many ways.

His style is so versatile. As soon as you press play, you’ll notice that you’re dealing with a classically trained musician whose knowledge and experience go beyond comprehension many times throughout the entire album. His creative genius and sense of balance between various genres, styles, and techniques while writing, composing, recording, and producing shine through his interest in death metal, progressive metal, modern metal, post-metal, and neoclassical music. Also, his version of modern death metal sound differs from anything you heard before. He revitalized the genre with such a rich and luxurious ambiance delivered through impressive ideas and instrumentations. King Of Hearts, Axiom Architects, Sehraff, Sword Swallower, Sister In Black, The Devil’s Tongue, Queen Of Hearts, and Lunar Assailant are just some of the highlights, but the remainder of the album sound incredible too.

Tulpa comes housed in a hefty, high-quality, full-color printed gatefold cover. You can choose between standard black or limited red with black splatter vinyl.
