Pierce The Veil – The Jaws Of Life CD (Fearless Records)

Pierce the Veil‘s latest album, The Jaws of Life, is a beautiful and compelling journey that showcases the band’s ability to evolve their sound while staying true to their roots. From start to finish, The Jaws of Life is a rollercoaster of emotions. The album opens with songs like the excellent Death Of The Executioner and follows with Pass the Nirvana, the first single released in September 2022. The track immediately immerses listeners into the primary ambiance of the album, with its post-hardcore/indie/emo-inspired riffs and Vic Fuentes’ ethereal vocals. It’s the perfect introduction to what the rest of the album has in store.

The Jaws of Life is a well-crafted album that showcases the band’s versatility. Emergency Contact, the second single released in November 2022, is a prime example of the melodic and intimate sound embodying the entire album. The song has a stripped-down feel that highlights the beautiful Vic Fuentes’ vocal harmonies. The album’s title track, The Jaws of Life, is a standout piece of sonic artistry. The lyrics speak about the struggles of life and how it can consume you if you’re not careful. The song’s chorus is a powerful reminder of how life can be depressing at times. Instrumentally, it’s a brilliant composition that combines soaring guitars with powerful drums and bass.

A producer Paul Meany and mixing engineer Adam Hawkins enhanced The Jaws Of Life on an entirely new level. They delivered a crispness and clarity to the sound, allowing the music to shine. The result is an album that sounds fresh and modern yet retains the raw energy that Pierce the Veil is known for. The Jaws of Life is a testament to Vic Fuentes’ songwriting ability. His lyrics are meaningful and poignant, reflecting his own personal experiences and struggles. His ability to capture complex emotions through his songs is one of the qualities that make him such a great songwriter. The third number on this release, Even When I’m Not With You, is a prime example. The song is a heartfelt tribute to someone he can’t be with, and it’s impossible not to feel the emotions with him as he sings it.

Overall, The Jaws of Life is a triumphant return for Pierce the Veil. The album is a testament to their resilience and unquestionable commitment to their music. It’s a brilliant blend of post hardcore, punk, indie, emo, and alternative rock that showcases many strengths of this group. You don’t want to miss this album if you’re a true fan of Pierce The Veil.
