Jonatan Westh launched Holy Ship in 2018, after his shoegaze band Blackstrap (V2, Tee Pee Records) had disintegrated after a decade. Building his own studio, ‘The Mothership’ in Stockholm, Westh mixed various recordings for Stockholm bands,Runtom Knuten , and danmarck which then sparked the recordings to what would be his new music as HOLY SHIP. Westh plays all instruments on the recordings except for drums by longtime collaborator David Götestam. Since Holy Ship’s 2019 debut EP Event Horizon and Les Deux Regards (2021) – the blend of psychedelic grooves, shoegaze and dark synth anthems- has found supporters such as US’s KEXP, Breakthru Radio, BrooklynVegan, IndieShuffle, and Swedish blogs Hymn, Savant Musik Magasin. Holy Ship has since expanded its existence outside the studio as a powerful live band with a handful of shows in Sweden in 2019/20 –and Summer Festivals in 2022
