Today, New York duo Content Blocks unveil “On the Market,” their new single and the latest preview of their forthcoming debut album, Hard Out, due October 2, 2026 via STTT Records.
The track explores the uneasy transition from the intensity of urban life to the promise of a quieter existence, questioning whether leaving everything behind can truly fill the void. As the duo explain:
“A tale as old as time, about moving from the dense urban landscape to serene terrains. Shed the second layer; leave it all behind. Am I finally content? Do I know that person, looking in? They seem familiar; the silhouette in the distance, through the window. It’s so quiet here. Maybe this transformation was a huge mistake; it feels like it may be too late. Perhaps that someone can replace what I’ve given up. It’s time we open the door, attempt to fill the void.”
Following “Beach Resort,” released in July, “On the Market” reveals another facet of Hard Out, further defining Content Blocks’ dark, future-facing take on post-punk, shaped by industrial, Belgian EBM, synth-pop, and experimental electronics.
Comprised of Matthew Hord and Ian Campbell, Content Blocks channel the tension of contemporary New York into a cold, propulsive sound informed by the city’s architecture, technology, and perpetual unrest.
