If you paid attention to what’s happening on the contemporary music scene, you probably already know that many artists and bands deliver some of the finest works any genre has seen in recent years. It has become nearly impossible to stumble upon a bad song or an album, and it seems that many music outlets push the sound quality to a new level with each new release. But, as is usually is the case, many of those artists deliver the same old, predictable, repetitive, bland works that resemble something renowned great has been recorded and released decades ago. On the other hand, there is a handful of bands who break all the rules, shapeshift the boundaries, and elevate music to new heights, offering something fresh, unique, and innovative to those listeners willing to pay close attention and dive deep into the expansive sonic universe. QUBED, an outstanding New York-based rock band, has recently released an outstanding body of work that will definitely appeal to anyone who seeks cleverly assembled and flawlessly performed music. With “Framework,” this incredible band creates music that sounds exciting, like the first time you’ve heard it on the radio. There’s something about the way they articulate that makes you crave more. Perhaps classic rock shines in their song the most, as they incorporated all the fundamental elements in each segment of every song, but do not be surprised if you stumble upon some of the finest properties borrowed from alternative, indie, hard rock, progressive rock, and other similar subgenres of rock. They use all these additional sonic ingredients as more than necessary enhancements, accentuations, decorations, and other details to uplift their music to an entirely new level while simultaneously remaining loyal to the primary sonic direction. And while their music shines with all those qualities that make seventies, eighties, and nineties rock so great, you’ll also hear how QUBED infused these songs with qualities that meet all the trends in modern music production. “Framework” might be an album that shines with all those classic rock sonic maneuvers, but it has so many fresh, unique, innovative, progressive moves, making it suitable not only for longtime rock fans but also anyone who craves genre-bending, creative music performed straight from the heart.

With the initial notes and beats, it becomes apparent that these folks poured heart and soul into this album. Each composition on “Framework” arrives with a perfect structure, decorated with clever arrangements, profoundly detailed segments, brilliant ideas, and marvelous orchestrations. Each vocal, sonic, and rhyhtmic maneuver has its place and purpose here, making this album such a pleasant listening experience worth repeating over and over again. The first thing you’ll notice is the outstanding vocal performance, which serves as a centerpiece of the entire album, elevating everything to new heights, commanding attention, and guiding listeners on an epic journey through the expansive sonic universe. The soulful, passionate, sincere, confident, powerful vocals seamlessly balance low, mid, and high notes with such precision and finesse, emphasizing everything the remainder of the band intended to achieve with this material. Besides decorating all those segments and orchestrations, the vocals also contribute more than necessary emotional depth and complexity to already intricate songs. In the meantime, the interplay between guitars shapes a perfect backdrop for all the vocals to shine upon. You’ll notice how a comprehensive collection of jangly, angular, or tastefully distorted chord progressions and riffs dictates the ambiance and mood of these songs while the additional melodies and harmonies elevate them to new heights. There are also additional leads, themes, melodies, harmonies, and pads delivered via keys, giving more depth and complexity to these compositions. It’s nearly mindblowing how all those layers articulate together without overwhelming each other, proving that QUBED thought about everything while writing, composing, arranging, and producing this material. You’ll notice how beneath all those lush guitars and keyboards, the bass guitar pulsates and rumbles, offering more than necessary heaviness, clarity, and depth while simultaneously binding the mentioned instruments with rhythmic patterns. These deep, dense, heavy low ends contribute groove and detail without ever overwhelming the remainder of the orchestrations. The excellent drumming performance, based upon steady, well-accentuated, cleverly assembled, and flawlessly performed beats, breaks, fills, and other percussive acrobatics, keep everything in line while dictating groove and pace. QUBED thought about everything while writing and composing this marvelous album, making it an exceptional listening experience worth repeating over and over again. Songs like “Balloon Ride,” “Dusk And Dawn,” “Snail Trail…Don’t Lick It,” “Thoughts/For No One,” and “Mirror” are just some of the standouts on this material, but you should definitely pay attention while listening to the entire album, because QUBED infused some of the finest ideas and orchestrations into it.
With “Framework,” QUBED showcases how rock music, when done right, can still sound fresh, unique, innovative, and exciting, just like the first time you’ve heard it on the radio. Their songwriting, composing, arranging, and producing abilities are on full display here, while their musicianship demonstrates a very confident collective that plays music with such ease, straight from the heart. “Framework” exemplifies how rock music should sound in 2026, and you should immediately place this gem on your music radar. Do not miss it!
