Nashville-based indie fusion quintet Powers and the People (PNTP) has released their dynamic new single, “Lingua Franca.” Coming in hot with an 80s new wave-inspired groove, the track features layered dual vocal harmonies and progressive guitar playing that lands somewhere between U2 and Polyphia.
Formed by five East Coast natives who relocated to Nashville, PNTP blends jazz, funk, rock, folk, and punk into a distinctive sound. “Lingua Franca” serves as a song of awakening—a cry against absolutes that demands we be present and care for each other amidst the world’s noise. Clocking in at roughly four minutes, the track maintains an indie-pop sensibility packed with hooks, despite its underlying angst. Recorded at the iconic Blackbird Studio, it is a testament to the band’s intricate songwriting and high-energy performance.
