Long Island indie-punk stalwarts Somerset Thrower have released “Shinebox,” the emotionally charged first single from their forthcoming album Take Only What You Need To Survive, due out July 11 via Smartpunk Records. The track finds the band leaning further into their signature blend of melodic punk grit and heartfelt indie rock, marrying jagged guitar tones with anthemic choruses and lyrical introspection.
“Shinebox” marks the band’s first new material since their 2020 LP Paint My Memory, a release that drew acclaim for its raw honesty and sonic punch. With this latest single, Somerset Thrower show no signs of slowing down, offering a matured but no less intense sound that captures the turbulence of modern life with clarity and conviction.
As anticipation builds for the new record, “Shinebox” sets the tone, gritty, gripping, and resonant. The single is available now on all major streaming platforms.
