Skeetch Released Video For New Song “Sunny Side”

Leipzig’s skate punk torchbearers Skeetch are back and swinging with a new single that hits you like the first drop into a halfpipe: “Sunny Side” is out now via Punkerton Records. Blending big-hearted energy with gritty hooks, the song is a rush of melodic, ’90s-inspired punk rock that’s both nostalgic and deeply personal.

Sunny Side” immediately gives off ‘90s melodic skate punk vibes as soon as the opening guitar riff hits. It’s the kind of song that transports you back to the days when Warped Tour cost less than 20 bucks and Tony Hawk was shaping the listening habits of a generation. With fast, punchy drums, soaring guitar leads, and shout-along hooks, it’s a throwback without sounding dated — a refreshing jolt of youthful sincerity.

Lyrically, the track is a punk rock love song about finding a spark of beauty in the middle of a gray, lifeless backdrop. “It’s about finding someone (or something) good when everything else around you just isn’t,” the band explains. “It’s about seeing the beauty in the mundane.” The song’s refrain says it all: “You’re the sunny side of shitty town.”

“Sunny Side”* is our not-so-cheesy love song — whether you see it as about a relationship, a friendship, or however you choose to interpret it. It’s a reminder that even when life sucks — sometimes, or even most of the time — it’s worth appreciating the little things. It’s about finding and embracing the _sunny side_ of whatever situation you’re in. The track is also the title song of our debut full-length album, ‘Sunny Side of Shitty Town’, dropping on August 22 via Punkerton Records. Keep your eyes peeled — pre-orders go live in the next few days!”- Skeetch

The new single offers a first taste of Skeetch’s forthcoming debut full-length album, due later this year. It’s their most focused and melodic work yet, capturing the essence of what makes skate punk timeless: speed, heart, and a hell of a lot of fun.

Formed in 2021, Skeetch is made up of five friends united by their passion for fast, melodic punk rockMax Schlegel (vocals), Tom Kühnel (guitar/vocals), Markus Ackert (guitar/vocals), Philipp Krebs (bass/vocals), and Richard M. (drums). The band hit the ground running with a trio of EPs and a run of DIY tours across Europe, quickly earning a reputation for high-energy live shows and anthemic songwriting.

Influenced by legends like PennywiseMillencolin, and Bad Religion, Skeetch is proud to carry the banner for a new generation of skate punks — with no signs of slowing down.
