The Zangwills – Collision

Collision” is a recently released song by The Zangwills, an outstanding Chester-based quartet. It’s their first piece of work in 2024, arriving as an adequate follow-up of “Walking On A Wire,” another excellent single released last year that you should check out as soon as possible. Still, “Collision” delivers many innovations in songwriting, composing, arranging, and producing, making this epic sonic journey even more enjoyable. Soundwise, The Zangwills combine many different but complementary music genres to illustrate such luxuriant sonic imagery. Perhaps alternative comes to mind first, but you’ll notice how some of the finest elements borrowed from modern rock, indie, and indie pop found their way into this sonic equation. These experimentations with so many styles resulted in a mesmerizing composition suitable to even the pickiest music enthusiasts.

As soon as you press play, you’ll notice that these experienced musicians are not joking around with their sound. “Collision” arrives with a perfect structure, garnered with many intricate segments, brilliant ideas, and outstanding orchestrations. From the initial notice and beats, you’ll hear how the excellent vocal performance serves as a centerpiece, emphasizing all the segments and instrumentations. The impressive vocal range seamlessly balances low, mid, and high notes while commanding attention and guiding listeners from scratch to finish. In the meantime, the fascinating interplay between rhythm and lead guitars shapes a perfect backdrop for all the vocals to shine upon. You’ll notice how cleverly assembled, memorable chord progressions and riffs delivered on acoustic and electric guitars resonate on one side while the other emits subtle themes, melodies, harmonies, and other sonic delicacies. The additional string instrumentations spice things up on an entirely new level during particular moments while simultaneously contributing to the depth and complexity of the song.

This track wouldn’t sound this good without a rock-solid rhythm section. The equally intricate, audible, warm-sounding basslines rumble beneath the guitar layers, offering more than necessary heftiness, clearness, and deepness while binding all the orchestrations with drums. The excellent drumming performance is based upon energetic, well-accentuated beats, breaks, fills, and other percussive acrobatics that keep everything in line while dictating groove and pace. Each instrument plays a significant role in this sonic equation, creating such a pleasant listening experience. The Zangwills poured heart and soul into this composition, resulting in a mesmerizing showcase of their songwriting, composing, and producing abilities. From exceptional vocal performance and guitar works that shape such a cathartic listening experience to intricate basslines and energetic rhythmic patterns, “Collision” shines with so many qualities that will undoubtedly appeal to even the pickiest indie rock fans. You should put this track on your radar as soon as possible. The single is available on all streaming platforms.
