Sarantos – Starting Over

Starting Over” is a new single by Sarantos, a Chicago-based singer-songwriter. It’s his second single in 2024, serving as a perfect follow-up to “Love Is Love,” “Rain Guitar,” “The Time (For Miracles),” “I Thought,” “No One Promised,” and many more singles released this and last year. Still, this particular composition delivers some innovation in writing, composing, arranging, recording, and producing. Soundwise, Sarantos combines a singer-songwriter approach with some of the finest properties borrowed from indie folk, indie pop, indie rock, acoustic rock, etc. Still, don’t be surprised if you stumble upon some other sonic ingredients, taken from EDM, Latin fusion, classic pop, electro-pop, pop-rock, or even jazz. The artist uses these additional elements as more than necessary enhancements, accentuations, decorations, and other details to uplift his song on an entirely new level, while he simultaneously remains loyal to the primary sonic direction. Therefore, these experimentations with different but complementary elements resulted in a mesmerizing composition that will appeal to even the pickiest indie pop fans and beyond.

As soon as you press play, you’ll notice how much time and ideas Sarantos invested into his latest single. The song carries all the qualities of modern music, but it also evokes some nostalgia. Musicians and songwriters know it’s not an easy task to achieve, especially nowadays when we’re overwhelmed by the music resonating from every possible streaming platform. Still, Sarantos stands out in all his uniqueness and freshness, proving that indie or singer-songwriter music can still sound exciting. The guitars play a significant role on this ear-appealing sonic journey, as they serve as a perfect backdrop by delivering layers of cleverly assembled instrumentations. You’ll notice how the catchy chord progressions burst on one side, while the other emits mesmerizing themes, leads, melodies, and harmonies. These orchestrations support Sarantos’ outstanding vocal performance, which unquestionably steals the show here by shining with a perfect balance between low, mid, and high notes. You’ll also notice how the wisely implemented singalongs and back vocals emphasize these vocal harmonies, adding more complexity to the song.

The layer of keys and violins further decorates this magnificent audio voyage, and you’ll hear all these instrumentations along the way. Of course, the artist thought about the rhythm section as well. The equally complex, vividly hearable, warm-sounding basslines offer more than necessary heaviness, depth, and clarity while simultaneously serving as a binding element between the mentioned orchestrations and drumming performance. The rhythmic sequences based upon moderate, danceable, well-accentuated beats, breaks, fills, and other percussive acrobatics dictate groove and pace but also keep everything in line. Sarantos thought about everything while assembling his latest single, proving he’s one of the best indie artists in the game. Therefore, you should put Sarantos and his new song on your radar, because it will become your go-to track whenever you need some flawlessly arranged and performed music. The single is available on all streaming platforms. Don’t miss it!
