Cat Cork – Post Man

Post Man” is the latest track by Cat Cork, an Australian singer-songwriter. It’s his first piece of work in 2024, serving as an adequate follow-up to the “Ulysses,” a full-length album released in 2016. Cat Cork has teamed up with musicians around the globe to deliver this track. Therefore, although “Post Man” serves as a proper continuation of his earlier work, it also showcases many innovations in writing, composing, arranging, recording, and producing. It demonstrates a similar sonic direction, invigorated with more layers of instrumentation. Soundwise, the artist combines the singer-songwriter approach with some of the finest properties borrowed from many different but complementary music genres like folk pop, folk rock, indie folk, indie pop, indie rock, or acoustic rock. He uses all these additional elements as more than necessary enhancements, accentuations, decorations, and other details to uplift this composition on an entirely new level while simultaneously remaining loyal to the primary sonic direction. Therefore, this experimentation with different but complementary music genres resulted in a marvelous number that will appeal to anyone even remotely into singer-songwriter music and beyond.

As soon as you press play, you’ll notice how this song shines with many brilliant ideas and exceptional musicianship. Cat Cork‘s outstanding vocal performance channels some indie folk, power pop, and psych-pop vibes by balancing low, mid, and high notes with such ease. These vocal harmonies emphasize all the segments and instrumentations contributed by the guest musicians. The guitars serve as a perfect backdrop for Cork‘s vocal articulations by offering tastefully arranged, flawlessly recorded, superbly performed chord progressions, melodies, harmonies, and other sonic maneuvers. In the meantime, string instruments and horns contribute to this exceptional sonic landscape with additional layers of themes, leads, and ambiances. It’s nearly mindblowing how all these orchestrations suit together, proving that Cat Cork is a clever songwriter-composer who knows how to write and assemble divine indie folk songs.

Of course, the artist thought about the rhythm section, so you’ll notice how the equally complex, vividly hearable, warm-sounding basslines offer more than necessary heaviness, clarity, and depth while simultaneously binding all these instrumentations together. The excellent drumming performance based upon moderate, well-accentuated beats, breaks, fills, and other percussive acrobatics dictates groove and tempo but also keeps everything in line. Cat Cork planned the entire song structure, so you’ll hear how every segment carries many jaw-dropping orchestrations and ideas. There’s a touch of psychedelics and nostalgia lurking around, reminding of the 70s music, but the artist also incorporated some sonic maneuvers suitable for these modern times. You should check out “Post Man” as soon as possible because it’s one of those songs that immediately gets into your ears, and refuses to let go. Cat Cork made a grandiose return to the scene with this outstanding composition, which deserves your utmost attention. The single is available on all streaming platforms.
