The Lonely Together – Talk About Anything

The Lonely Together‘s latest single, Talk About Anything, is a beautiful amalgamation of dreamy rock and psychedelic pop. Taken from their second album, Endless Sunset Oblivion, this song showcases their immense skill, experience, and musicianship. From the opening notes, it is more than clear that this is a carefully crafted composition that will satisfy even the pickiest listeners. The Lonely Together has put a lot of thought and care into their music, and every aspect of it is more than hearable from scratch to finish. They are not afraid to experiment with different genres and textures, resulting in a fresh and exciting sound. Their musicianship is also worth mentioning. The performance of both band members in this song is nothing short of stellar, with each instrument adding depth and nuance to the overall sound. It is more than evident that these musicians are experienced and skilled, which makes their music all the more enjoyable to listen to. While Talk About Anything may sound like a typical upbeat pop song on the surface, the lyrics reveal a much deeper and more urgent message. It is a meaningful anthem written to support mental health, with songwriter Mike Baillie offering in-depth lyricism full of hope. The instrumentations are multilayered and textured, while the vocals are profoundly emotive and evocative.

Of course, their combination of dreamy indie rock and a healthy dosage of psychedelia and alternative does wonders, and the band perfectly paired everything they wanted. Every instrumentation resonates with such a calm, soothing, relaxing, nearly cathartic tone, and you’ll immediately notice how both band members play a significant role in shaping such a mesmerizing ambiance. The exceptional rhythmic sequences of Jonny Scott (CHVRCHES, The Kills) based upon well-accentuated moderate beats, breaks, fills, and other percussive acrobatic keep everything Mike Baillie intended to do with all ear-appealing, catchy chord progressions, equally complex basslines, vocal arrangements, mellotron/synth leads, and ambiances. Still, you’ll notice how Baille’s exceptional vocal harmonies are the centerpiece of Talk About Anything, and his perfectly balanced singing technics emphasize every segment of the song. This composition perfectly showcases the brilliance of both musicians and what you might expect from Endless Sunset Oblivion, an upcoming full-length album by these experienced musicians. Talk About Everything is available on all streaming platforms.
