After two critically acclaimed standalone singles unleashed this year, such as Broken Record and I Think You Know, Brighton-based duo Future Baby returns with another exceptional composition that will unquestionably appeal to all alternative rock fans. Their latest effort, a hypnotic song called Bones, serves as an appropriate continuation of their previous works, but it also showcases innovations in songwriting, composing, and production. The duo paid a lot of attention to the details, and you’ll immediately notice that Bones carries more than just one music genre. Perhaps Future Baby dives deep into the fundamentals of an alternative rock sound, but you’ll also notice some of the finest properties borrowed from other complementary genres along the way. You’ll find elements of garage rock, hard rock, and indie rock lurking around, so Bones sound rich, complex, and mesmerizing from scratch to finish. These additional elements serve as more than necessary enhancements, accentuations, decorations, and other details that uplift this composition on an entirely new level while the duo remains loyal to the primary sonic direction.
Bones carries such a mesmerizing ambiance that may seem minimalistic at first, but Future Baby fully stacked this number with some of the finest orchestrations and ideas you’ll hear on the contemporary alternative scene. The flawlessly performed vocal harmonies play a significant role in shaping such a luxurious sound, and you’ll immediately notice how the lead singer skillfully balances between low, mid, and high notes. There’s also a layer of back vocals emphasizing some segments, and this detail is a clever addition that makes Bones even catchier. Of course, this song wouldn’t sound groovy without exceptional drumming performance based upon perfectly accentuated moderate beats, breaks, fills, and other percussive acrobatics. Raw, abrasive, fuzzy leads, riffs, and chord progressions come as another layer that improves Bones even more, and it’s nearly mindblowing how much guitars affect an already luxurious ambiance. These folks fully stacked their new standalone single with brilliant ideas and exceptional musicianship, so Bones will appeal to your listening apparatus even if you’re not into this genre at all. Future Baby are not joking around with their music, and this number proves that modern alternative rock music sounds better than ever. It’s a must-listen for anyone even remotely into rock music. The single is available on all streaming services.
