Silktape – Sink Or Swim

After the critically acclaimed debut single Stride, Brighton-based quartet Silktape returns with another fine piece of sonic artistry that will unquestionably appeal to all the fans of an indie rock sound. Perhaps Silktape almost solely relies upon the fundamentals of this particular genre, but Sink Or Swim carries so many surprises, sp it’s nearly impossible to grasp them all in one listening. You’ll stumble upon some vital elements of many complementary music genres such as grunge, alternative, post-punk, and garage rock. You’ll probably spend some time soaking up all the ideas these creative musicians invested into their second single. As soon as you press play, you’ll notice Silktape are not joking around with its music, and Sink Or Swim is more than rock-solid proof of it.

Silktape embrace old-school and contemporary sonic maneuvers to achieve the desired sound. You’ll immediately hear catchy dualities between rhythm and lead guitars. There are detailed high-pitched chord progressions on one and ear-appealing, beautiful leads on the other side. Of course, this single wouldn’t sound massive without powerful low-end tones, which continuously lurk beneath guitar layers. Still, you’ll hear everything the bass player recorded for this particular track due to the outstanding job done by the producer. The drummer keeps everything in line with enormously dynamic rhythmic sequences, decorated with many enhancements, accentuations, drum fills, and other percussive acrobatics. Another detail that brings Sink Or Swim to an entirely new level are perfectly sung vocal harmonies, empowered by equally good back vocals. You’ll get hypnotized by this composition as soon as you hear it. Silktape is an excellent band that deserves your utmost attention. The single is available on all streaming platforms. Don’t miss it!
