After a series of singles like Nova Pesma, Release, Vertigo, Haze, and a critically acclaimed full-length album named States Of Mind, Icelandic alternative quintet Karma Brigade returns with another outstanding composition. ALIVE is more than an appropriate continuation of their previous works. However, it also showcases many innovations in sound. If you paid close attention to this band before, you probably already knew that Karma Brigade solely relies upon the fundamentals of contemporary alternative rock music. Therefore, their sound is clean, polished, and luxurious, with many details and sonic delicacies included along the way. Still, ALIVE bursts with some of the finest properties of shoegaze and dream pop sound, mainly because of the generous servings of reverb, echo and delay lurking in the ambiance.
Don’t be surprised if you stumble upon some characteristics of post-rock, indie pop, or other similar music genres. Karma Brigade fully stacked this composition with many surprises that will tickle all your senses. Each instrument is directly responsible for shaping a calm, relaxing, soothing, cathartic ambiance. You’ll immediately notice superb vocal harmonies where both female and male vocalists provide sincere, confident performances. The guitars resonate with ear-appealing melodies, chord progressions, and riffs, while the vividly hearable piano performance supports with another layer of chords. Of course, nothing would sound so massive without equally detailed basslines and profoundly dynamic rhythmic sequences decorated with many accentuations and other percussive acrobatics. Karma Brigade invested so much effort into ALIVE, and you’ll unquestionably hear it. The single is available on all streaming platforms.
