Arm The Poor – Vomnibus LP (Toe Tapper Records)

Arm The Poor is a longstanding ska-punk quartet originating from Tampa, Florida. The group started in 2004 by delivering the perfect blend of hardcore punk, skate punk, and ska music, combined into an entirely polished form. However, Arm The Poor liberates enough power through their highly engaging music, so this is not another typical contemporary ska-punk band. Quite the contrary, their music leans much more to hardcore punk than ska sound, so there’s a notable dosage of abrasiveness hidden beneath the dominant layers of melody. The group includes the best affinities of the abovementioned subgenres of punk rock, so you’ll be quite surprised by their meaningful messages and ear-appealing music.

Arm The Poor published a brand new recording through Toe Tapper Records that’s currently up for pre-orders. Despite being a brand new release, this material consists of two previously released extended plays, published during 2005 and 2006. Vomnibus is not only capturing the very beginnings of this interesting ska-punk outlet but also represents the essential collection of merely abrasive punk rock compositions, dedicated to each admirer of this particular genre. This album showcases how entertaining ska-punk might sound if it’s moderately applied to the raw dynamics of hardcore music. Still, there’s a notable presence of skate punk melodies that are graciously decorating this recording.

Judging by their sound, you can notice how Arm The Poor were heavily influenced by the groups such as Operation Ivy, Leftover Crack, Choking Victim, INDK, The Suicide Machines, No Cash, Against All Authority, and Morning Glory. Still, Arm The Poor are maybe similar to the beforementioned groups, but their music differs because of the quite interestesting song structures and arrangements. You will solely enjoy semi-distorted ska chops, melodic harmonizations, robust guitar shreds while the precise rhythm section punches directly in the face with all its massiveness. Another thing that unquestionably goes in favor of this release is a production of both EPs. You won’t even notice these were separate recordings. Vomnibus comes on standard black vinyl, strictly limited to 100 copies. This material is available at Toe Tapper Records.
