The band Truth ≠ Tribe is back with an explosive new sound. Their latest single, “S!”, serves as the first preview of their upcoming album, Zimstrela, set for release later this year under the Menart label.
The track was written by Mak Murtić, with arrangements collaboratively shaped by Mak Murtić, Nenad Kovačić, Nenad Sinkauz, and Jurica Rukljić. The audio was recorded at Soundbrick Studio by Luka Čabo, Mateo Patekar, and Vedran Peternel, while Luka Čabo handled the mixing and mastering. The accompanying music video was directed and edited by Dinko Ćvorić Doringo.
As the band’s second studio album (and third overall), Zimstrela features a powerhouse lineup of renowned composers and instrumentalists from the Croatian alternative and jazz scenes: Mak Murtić (saxophones, sopila, flutes), Nenad Sinkauz (electric guitar), Jurica Rukljić (electric tuba, tuba, valve trombone), and Nenad Kovačić (drums and percussion).

“I believe the single ‘S!’ perfectly announces the sound and direction of the upcoming Truth ≠ Tribe album,” says Mak Murtić. “In both the single and the album, you can feel the synergy and the bond of friendship we’ve built through various concerts and tours over the last five years. It reflects our worldview and our desire to create connections rather than divisions.”
Thematically, Zimstrela explores identity, its reconstruction and deconstruction, interpersonal links, and sonic experimentation. Rejecting the idea of identity as a closed “tribe,” Truth ≠ Tribe aims to create a long-term, open connection between individuals through both their music and the album’s conceptual framework.
“After so many experiences, it’s incredible to me that a band can function so simply yet so complexly,” adds Jurica Rukljić. “When problems arise, it’s as if they aren’t there; when they aren’t, we create just enough of them to keep things moving. This album is a solid argument that such a direction encourages extraordinary creativity without compromising aesthetics. Because of its diversity, ‘S!’ is the best possible introduction to the essence of the album.”
Musically, Truth ≠ Tribe continues to evolve a sound that blends contemporary jazz, rock, various folk traditions, experimental textures, and pulsating rhythms.
