backbone is a polish band playing a modern blend of atmospheric / post / doom metal. Active since 2012, the group creates music drawn from inspirations such as Dirge, Opeth, Yob, Cult of Luna, Blindead, and Obscure Sphinx. The band has released three EPs, one split, and a full-length album, “Embracing Dissolution”.
Currently, they are putting the finishing touches on their second LP and the fourth edition of their own Blood&Bone festival, with proceeds dedicated to supporting bone cancer patients.
The second full-length release by the post / doom metal quintet backbone, titled “Ama Nesciri“, is a concept album telling the story of the Mystic – a figure torn between the world they perceive and their own spiritual needs. In their inner journey, the Mystic strives to achieve enlightenment, and this pursuit forms the axis of the story. The character has no defined gender, historical era, or professed religion.
The title “Ama Nesciri”, derived from a quote by Thomas à Kempis, loosely translates to “love to be unknown” or “love to be unnoticed”, which places the presented story in sharp contrast to the modern world, where being seen becomes the essence of existence.
