Berkeley-based ambient project Ship Says Om (Jenny Gillespie Mason) and Swedish singer Emma Lucia have unveiled “Water Prayer,” a beautiful, wordless ambient meditation. The track is featured on their collaborative new EP, Djuphjärtad (Deep-Hearted), which is set to arrive this Friday, July 17, 2026, via Native Cat Recordings.
This creative partnership began when Lucia invited Mason to help shape her original songs into a more exploratory, atmospheric format. On “Water Prayer,” Mason’s meticulous production draws heavily from nature, weaving found sounds—like birdsong, wind, and the rhythm of oars in water—seamlessly with ambient synths, acoustic guitar, and piano. Blending Lucia’s luminous, evocative voice with Mason’s immersive textures, the track perfectly recalls the experimental modern composition of artists like Philip Glass and Hiroshi Yoshimura. It provides a peaceful, quiet expanse that listeners will want to lose themselves in.
