St. Louis, Missouri’s Iron Linings formed in 2020 and quickly recorded a debut EP which attempted to meld ’90s hardcore sounds with the dissonance of noise rock. Drawing influences from a wide range of bands, including Refused, Hot Snakes and Kowloon Walled City, they melt it all down into a potent stew of ferocity.
Following the band’s debut EP, and a successive split on The Ghost is Clear Records, the band releases its first full length, Urban Abyss (also on TGIC), on August 7. Pre-order it here.
“’Error City’ is a band favorite on the new album,” says guitarist and vocalist Nate Berens. “It’s fast and energetic while maintaining the ferocity we strive for. Lyrically, it calls to mind some of the great science fiction of the last 100 plus years and, while it isn’t necessarily about one particular thing, it does derive its essence from those stories.”
