Tropigloom - Invisible

Invisible” is the latest release by Tropigloom, an outstanding music outlet of Canadian musician Andrew Roy. It’s his second single this year and third composition in total, arriving as an appropriate continuation of “Out Of Body” and “Believe It,” two exceptional tracks released in 2024 and 2025, that you should also check out as soon as possible. Still, “Invisible” showcases many innovations in songwriting, composition, arrangement, and production, marking a natural progression from an already incredible artist. Lyrically, this song is about yearning to be unaffected by the difficulties in life, and how suppressing them often will only make them worse. It covers various sentiments, moods, situations, and circumstances, making it a highly relatable composition that will immediately resonate with the broader audience. Sonically, Tropigloom combines a singer-songwriter approach with various complementary music genres to create lush sonic imagery. Perhaps post-punk comes to mind first, but you’ll undoubtedly notice how some of the finest properties borrowed from shoegaze, dream pop, post-rock, synth rock, and cinematic ambiance found their way into this sonic equation. These additional sonic ingredients serve as more than necessary enhancements, accentuations, decorations, and other details while the artist simultaneously remains loyal to the primary sonic direction. Therefore, these experimentations with various approaches and complementary styles resulted in a mesmerizing post-punk song soaked in the finest shoegaze and dream pop elements. It will not only appeal to the fans of the mentioned music genres, but also to anyone who appreciates wisely assembled and flawlessly performed music.

Tropigloom succeeds where many contemporary music outlets usually fail. He avoids cliches and delivers a fresh, unique, innovative, and exciting take on so many styles without losing their essence. He’s not trying to reinvent the same old wheel, tirelessly explored by other artists and bands, but to deliver a one-of-a-kind sonic experience where each vocal, sonic, and rhythmic maneuver tackles all the senses. “Invisible” has a perfect structure, constructed with such precision and finesse, and you’ll unquestionably hear how every profoundly detailed segment carries many brilliant ideas and marvelous orchestrations suitable for even the pickiest listeners. Andrew Roy’s vocal performance acts as a centerpiece of this epic sonic voyage, elevating everything to new heights, commanding attention, and guiding listeners from start to finish. His whispery voice seamlessly balances low, mid, and high notes, emphasizing everything he intended to achieve with this song. Besides decorating all those segments and orchestrations, he contributes more than necessary emotional depth and complexity to an already intricate song structure. The guitars play a significant role here, as they provide a perfect backdrop for all the vocals to shine upon. You’ll notice how the interplay between catchy, memorable, engaging chord progressions on one side, and marvelous themes, melodies, harmonies, and other sonic maneuvers on the other, shapes such a luxuriant, addictive, hypnotic, irresistible, and otherworldly atmosphere. The generous servings of reverb, echo, and delay effect build that cave-like ambiance where every melody and harmony shines even more. Tropigloom also incorporated subtle synth works along the way, which contribute to the richness of the overall listening experience. It’s nearly mindblowing how all these layers articulate together without overwhelming each other, proving that Andrew Roy thought about everything while assembling this beautiful track.

Of course, this composition wouldn’t sound this good without the rock-solid rhythm section. You’ll hear all those equally impressive, vividly hearable, intricate, warm-sounding basslines, roaring beneath all those guitar layers and offering more than necessary heaviness, clarity, and depth that serves as a counterbalance to all that calm instrumentation, yet it also acts as a binding element between guitars and rhythmic patterns. These low-ends are rich, deep, dense, and heavy, yet they do not overwhelm those calm, soothing, relaxing, ethereal guitar works at all. Quite the contrary, they just bring more groove and depth to the track. In the meantime, the excellent rhythmic sequences based upon tastefully assembled, flawlessly performed, well-accentuated, moderate beats, fills, and other percussive acrobatics keep the remainder of the instrumentation in line while simultaneously dictating groove and pace. As you can see, Tropigloom thought about everything while composing this track. “Invisible” is a modern post-punk masterpiece soaked in the finest shoegaze and dream pop aesthetics, suitable for not only longtime fans of these genres but anyone who appreciates otherworldly, ethereal, intricate, and calm music. Andrew Roy is a brilliant musician whose creativity, talent, and skills shine in the limelight from start to finish, and “Invisible” is more than a rock-solid proof of his fascinating songwriting and composing abilities. Therefore, head to your favorite streaming platform and check out this modern post-punk gem.
