milkshed. Released New Single “Just Wanna Give”

Following the success of the ferocious ‘Do It Again’, which was championed by John Kennedy, BBC  Introducing and playlisted by Amazing Radio, rising alt-rock three-piece milkshed. showcase their softer side on latest single ‘Just Wanna Give’, released independently on 15th January. It’s followed  by their second EP on 19th February and gigs supporting it, including shows with Jaws The Shark and  for The Isle of Wight Festival’s New Blood Competition, whose winner will play the iconic festival.

‘Just Wanna Give’ explores loving your fellow human being and accepting yourself, which has always  been important to singer/guitarist Cam Gallaher, so the writing came easily: “it sounds cliché but the  melody came to me in a dream, I recorded a voice note humming it at 3am trying not to wake my  newborn son, unsuccessfully. He seems to like it though so that’s a relief.” The track’s conversational  tone is captured by the singer’s wife answering a phone call in its opening, reminiscent of ‘Streetcar’ by emo heavyweights Funeral For A Friend. “There’s so much anticipation in the moments before you  hear a voice answer and I wanted to feel that in the intro” the songwriter adds.

Inspired by the more delicate tracks of alt rock icons like Deftones, ‘Just Wanna Give’ showcases a dreamierside to milkshed., driven by a hypnotic melody and propulsive instrumentation that’s perfect  for the wintry, reflective new year period. Yet it retains the raw DIY energy fans love, being recorded  live and produced by Gallaher at his home studio in Devon, with mastering by Grammy-winner Dyre  Gormsen (Yungblud, Kenny Beats). “We recorded early milkshed. tracks separately as we live in  different places, so feeding off each other’s energy in the room enabled us to work more  collaboratively” notes bassist Jake Tulley, with drummer Alf Grey adding “it was the first take we did  and came together incredibly quickly, we feel really in sync with the music we want to make.”

milkshed. kick off 2025 with their second self-released EP on 19th February and a series of exciting  shows. They support breakthrough alt rock artist Jaws The Shark at Signature Brew Haggerston on  Wednesday 12th February as part of The Season (formerly Access All Areas), a multi-venue grassroots  music festival held across London. They are also through to the Quarter Finals of Isle of Wight  Festival’s New Blood Competition, playing The Old Blue Last in Shoreditch on Friday 7th March where  a live audience and industry panel will judge who advances to being just two performances away from playing the iconic festival. Following this, milkshed. headline The Black Prince in Northampton on  Friday 14th March with more dates across the UK following in the spring in support of their new EP.
