Southwest three-piece milkshed. are back and better than ever with their new single ‘Mud’, set for release on 21st February 2024, as well as announcing their debut EP set for release in April 2024.

Crashing in with a smattering of ferocious post-punk rock, a lick of grunge, and an injection of energy, it’s hard to believe this is only milkshed.’s third single. ‘Mud’ sits close to the heart of the band as, lyrically, the inspiration stems from a feeling of isolation from moving away from home and starting a new life. Home is the place Jake Tulley and Cam Gallaher met when they were 15 years old and a place where their love for the music they produce was formed. ‘Mud’ goes right back to those formative years, combining elements of Nirvana’s ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ with The Police’s ‘Message In A Bottle’, to create a raw, dynamic track that would be just as menacing 30-something years ago as it is today. Reinforcing its subject matter, Cam added: “The track’s about feeling at odds with the world around you while coming to terms with the fact that things often don’t pan out as expected.

The emotional connection to ‘Mud’ makes it a perfect track to announce the arrival of milkshed.’s debut EP. After catching the attention of Grammy-winning producer/mixer Adrian Bushby with their second single, ‘Burning Bridges’, the trio put the pedal to the metal and honed their sound with the guidance and expertise of Bushby. The band stated about the experience: “[Adrian]’s worked with huge bands like Foo Fighters, has a great level of focus, and is very efficient in the way he works. It was challenging at times because he demanded a certain degree of decisiveness, which we weren’t used to, having self-produced our first two releases. However, we learned a lot from the way he worked and are grateful for the experience.

Blending elements of 90s grunge and garage rock with pop songwriting sensibilities, milkshed.’s enigmatic sound is a fresh take on modern guitar music. Consisting of Cam Gallaher, Jake Tulley, and Alf Grey, together milkshed. have honed a powerful musical style, whilst working out of a disused milking parlour in the depths of Southwest England. Their debut single ‘Apex Predator’ was a bold statement of intent and an entirely self-produced offering. The track encapsulates the band’s raw energy and sets the bar for the catalogue that is to follow, starting with their follow-up single ‘Burning Bridges’. With a debut performance at Glastonbury festival under their belt, and a release party for ‘Mud’ at Two Palms to come milkshed. have established themselves as a captivating live act not to be missed and are eager to play live to new fans in 2024.

milkshed. will release their debut new single ‘Mud’ on 21st February 2024, with their debut EP to follow in April 2024, as well as a headline date at Two Palms Hackney on 6th March 2024, with support from Cures and Curses – tickets on sale now.
