Turn Two – Medicine (Black And Blue)

Today, New Jersey melodic punk rock group Turn Two returns with another fine piece of sonic artistry that will unquestionably appeal to all the fans of the genre and beyond. Arriving after “Symptoms Of Silence,” their critically acclaimed debut single that you should immediately check out, their brand-new track also announces the release of “Darkest Days” EP. Lyrically, “Medicine (Black And Blue)” explores the theme of self-punishment after making mistakes, exploring the complexities of internalizing decisions and seeking self-forgiveness. Like their previous track, this is also a highly relatable song that will undoubtedly resonate with the broader auditorium. For those who missed our previous articles about this exceptional band, Turn Two perhaps explores the fundamentals of modern melodic punk rock, but you’ll also notice how some other elements found their way into this sonic equation. Therefore, don’t be surprised if you stumble upon some of the finest properties borrowed from emo, pop-punk, skatepunk, and indie. This amalgam of similar music genres serves them well, as Turn Two resonates with tremendous precision and finesse from scratch to finish.

Turn Two is one of those bands that never ceases to amaze, and that’s the case with their latest effort. “Medicine (Black And Blue)” shines with so many jaw-dropping instrumentations, hypnotic vocal harmonies, and groovy beats that this song will immediately become a staple on your punk rock playlist. They showcase their dedication to the craft by thoroughly planning each vocal, sonic, and rhythmic maneuver while carefully arranging structure, segments, and instrumentations. Their ideas, talent, skills, and experience go beyond comprehension so many times throughout the entire track, making “Medicine (Black And Blue)” one of the finest melodic punk rock tracks this year. And all those vocal harmonies pervading the listening apparatus from all possible sides. These are the moments where this band shines, with all those perfectly balanced low, mid, and high notes delivering meaningful messages while the anthemic singalongs lurk around somewhere in the background. Of course, all these vocal maneuvers also emphasize everything the remainder of the band tried to achieve with this marvelous composition. The guitar interplays are another notable detail that immediately strikes your ears with wisely crafted riffs and catchy, memorable, engaging melodies. The comprehensive collection of various sonic delicacies delivered through precise guitar works will blow you away. Turn Two expertly blended vocal harmonies with guitars, making this track such a pleasant listening experience worth repeating.

The rhythm section sounds so heavy and powerful here, and this track wouldn’t sound this energetic and groovy without it. Like guitars, the low-end side offers an entire amalgam of intricate basslines, expertly delivered and paired with the remainder of the instrumentations. The way these low-ends support guitar works and rhythmic patterns also goes beyond comprehension. Of course, the impressive drumming performance propels everything to new heights by offering many excellent beats, breaks, fills, and other percussive acrobatics. The drummer skillfully keeps everything in line while dictating groove and tempo. As you can see, Turn Two thought about everything while writing, composing, arranging, recording, and producing their latest single. Once again, they proved that melodic punk rock music can still sound exciting while simultaneously pushing the boundaries and exploring new territories. Lyrically and musically, Turn Two is an incredible quartet whose skills and talent are on full display throughout the entire track, and we cannot wait to hear what they prepare next. With the first two tracks, they positioned themselves as the leading force on the contemporary melodic punk rock scene, and you should immediately check out their music because these creative musicians deserve your utmost attention. The single is available on all streaming services. Don’t miss it!
