Lauren McCallum – Paradise

“Paradise” is the latest single by Lauren McCallum, an outstanding singer-songwriter based in Singapore. It’s her fourth piece of work and the first single this year, arriving as an adequate follow-up of “Late,” “Love On Trial,” and “Summer Midnight Sky,” three excellent compositions that you should immediately check out. Still, this song arrives with many innovations in songwriting, composing, arranging, and producing, showcasing McCallum’s versatility, creativity, and talent. Inspired by the Criminal Minds episode, the song talks about realizing there’s more to life than living in the paradise proclaimed by others. Soundwise, Lauren McCallum combines many different but complementary styles to illustrate such a rich and luxurious ambiance. Perhaps alternative rock comes to mind, but you’ll notice how some of the finest properties borrowed from soft rock, indie rock, and indie pop found their way into this sonic equation. McCallum uses all these additional styles as more than necessary enhancements, accentuations, and decorations to uplift her latest single to new heights while remaining loyal to the primary sonic direction. Therefore, these experimentations with many different but complementary music genres resulted in a catchy, engaging, memorable song that will unquestionably appeal to even the pickiest listeners and beyond.

As soon as you press play, you’ll notice that Lauren McCallum thoroughly planned everything while writing, composing, arranging, and producing her song. “Paradise” shines with the finest qualities borrowed from the mentioned music genres and the perfect structure allows all those intricate segments, brilliant ideas, and marvelous orchestrations to shine in the limelight. Of course, her outstanding vocal performance serves as a centerpiece, emphasizing all those segments and instrumentations. Her impressive vocal range seamlessly balances low, mid, and high notes from scratch to finish, making this track even more pleasing to the ears. Her voice commands attention and guides listeners during each moment, decorating everything she intended to achieve with “Paradise.” In the meantime, the comprehensive collection built upon hypnotic and addictive chord progressions, riffs, harmonies, melodies, and themes serves as an adequate backdrop for all the vocal acrobatics to shine upon. The interplay between rhythm and lead guitars adds more depth and complexity, and all those subtle, delicate, yet notable details lurking beneath the multiple guitar layers make “Paradise” one of the best tracks you’ll hear in the contemporary alternative and indie rock scenes.

This track wouldn’t sound this good without the rock-solid rhythm section. There are equally complex, audible, warm-sounding basslines rumbling beneath the guitar works, providing more than necessary heaviness, clarity, and depth while binding everything together with drums. The exceptional drumming performance based upon tastefully assembled, flawlessly performed, well-accentuated, moderate beats breaks, fills, and other percussive acrobatics keeps the remainder of the instrumentations in line while dictating the groove and pace. As you can see, Lauren McCallum thought about everything while assembling this song and you’ll notice how each instrument plays a significant role in this sonic equation. If guitars serve as a backdrop for all the vocal maneuvers then the rhythm section is the backbone that holds everything together. From sincere, passionate, emotive, and powerful vocal performance and mesmerizing guitar works to intricate basslines and groovy drumming, Lauren McCallum proves she’s an outstanding alternative rock artist whose skills, talent, experience, and knowledge go beyond comprehension so many times throughout the entire track. “Paradise” is a perfect composition that will unquestionably resonate with the broader auditorium due to its relatable lyrics and emotional depth. It will become your go-to track whenever you need soulful, catchy alternative rock music. The single is available on all streaming platforms. Don’t miss it!
