The Noise Who Runs – One Scratch Each

The Noise Who Runs, an international duo consisting of Ian Pickering of Sneaker Pimps/Front Line Assembly and guitarist Felipe Goes, released a new single on October 10th. “One Scratch Each” serves as an adequate sneak peek of “come and join the beautiful army,” their upcoming five-track EP due for release on November 22nd. It’s a meaningful callout to solidarity suitable for these times when marketing and branding of the individual increases negative impacts on society and humanity. Soundwise, “One Scratch Each” is a complex number that defies categorization into a singular music genre. Perhaps electronic music comes to mind first, but The Noise Who Runs actually fully stacked this song with some of the finest properties borrowed from many complementary music genres. Therefore, you’ll stumble upon elements of experimental electronica, darkwave, synthwave, industrial, cinematic ambient, goth rock, art rock, etc. All these additional elements serve as more than necessary enhancements, accentuations, decorations, and other details that enhance this composition on an entirely new level, while the duo remains loyal to the primary sonic direction.

You’ll immediately notice how Ian Pickering’s calm, soothing, ethereal vocal harmonies and lyricism are the centerpieces that emphasize intricate orchestrations from scratch to finish. The duo thoroughly planned the entire song structure, so you’ll also hear how “One Scratch Each” carries many impressive ideas and instrumentations. The number delivers nothing but premium synth themes, leads, melodies, and harmonies, while another layer of profoundly detailed sequenced ambiances adds more complexity. There’s also a thick layer of equally intricate, vividly hearable, semi-distorted basslines that offer more aggression, heaviness, clarity, and depth. This song wouldn’t sound this good without danceable rhythmic sequences based upon cleverly arranged electronic beats, breaks, fills, and other percussive acrobatics. Every instrument plays a significant role in shaping a rich and luxurious ambiance that will appeal to even the pickiest electronic music fans. However, “One Scratch Each” will also appeal to even those newbies to the aforementioned music genres, as it offers some of the best instrumentations you’ll hear in a while. This composition demonstrates their ability to reinvent and push the boundaries of these longevious music genres and create something innovative and unique. You’ll await their new five-track EP with anticipation after listening to this mesmerizing track. “One Scratch Each” is available on all streaming platforms.
