The Noise Who Runs – Tune Out, Turn Off, Drop In

We recently posted a review about One Scratch Each, a magnificent track by The Noise Who Runs, an international duo consisting of Ian Pickering of Sneaker Pimps/Front Line Assembly and guitarist Felipe Goes. Now they’re back with Tune Out, Turn Off, Drop In, a new single that offers an even more detailed sneak peek into Come and Join the Beautiful Army, their upcoming extended play release. For those who somehow missed my previous review, The Noise Who Runs love to experiment with music genres. Perhaps electronic music comes to mind first, so they embrace those aesthetics and combine them with all the vital elements of synthwave, synth pop, cinematic ambient, etc. These experimentations resulted in a mesmerizing composition worth repeating over and over again.

Tune Out, Turn Off, Drop In commences with skillfully assembled arpeggiated sequences, themes, and leads. These sonic are present throughout the song, giving more than appropriate soundscape for vocal harmonies. There’s a thick layer of warm-sounding and abrasive basslines, which offer more than necessary heaviness, depth, and clarity, but also serve as a glue between those synth leads and flawlessly programmed rhythmic structures. Of course, this composition wouldn’t sound this good without those rhythmic sequences based upon very detailed beats, breaks, various accentuations, fills, and other percussive acrobatics. Their ability to perfectly arrange and produce all these instrumentations makes Tune Out, Turn Off, Drop In so catchy, hypnotic, and ear-appealing. Both Ian Pickering and Felipe Goes know what they’re doing, and they’re doing it pretty well.

Both musicians invested tremendous ideas, knowledge, and skills while assembling this track, and you’ll notice that with initial notes and beats. As soon as that synth commences, Tune Out, Turn Off, Drop In offers an entire specter of thoroughly planned instrumentations and vocal articulations. The way they took only vital elements from each genre and applied them over the perfect rhythmic base goes beyond comprehension so many times during the song. Every segment offers so many irresistible melodies, themes, and leads, gradually building an ethereal listening experience for the listener. The Noise Who Runs once again showcased all their expertise in crafting magnificent synthwave music, and you should put Tune Out, Turn Off, Drop In on your radar as soon as possible. The single is available on all streaming platforms.
