Richard Evans – Dream Of The World EP

“Dream Of The World” is a new extended play release by Manchester-based synthwave artist Richard Evans. This material serves as a call to action in the face of an unrelenting climate crisis, but it also reflects on a health situation that affected Evans in late 2022. It’s a wisely constructed set of three compositions that showcase all the brilliance of this highly creative musician as he explores the fundamentals of a synthwave through his music. Besides being profoundly attached to only the finest qualities of the genre, Evans also incorporates some of the finest properties borrowed from retro and contemporary electronic music, electropop, synthpop, and new wave. These experimentations with many different but complementary music styles resulted in an incredible showcase of his creativity, talent, ideas, and musicianship.

As a synthwave artist, Richard Evans solely relies upon the usage of synths. He skillfully exploits all the possibilities of the instrument, as every number comes with impressive instrumentations that define the intricate ambiance of the entire extended play release. The EP commences with “Dream Of The World,” a magnificent ode to the times we’re living in. This ear-appealing number carries retro-futuristic vibes that immediately draw the listener into a luxurious late seventies, early eighties-inspired synth/electro ambiance. His clever arrangements and sense of balancing only the vital sonic ingredients of contemporary and retro synthwave music are vividly hearable from beginning to end. The comprehensive collection of wisely assembled themes, leads, melodies, harmonies, and ambiances define the rich and luxurious ambiance of “Dream Of The World.” It’s a perfect introduction to the remainder of the EP, which is nothing short of impressive.

“2082” continues at the same pace, but it dives even deeper into the intricacies of the genre. Richard Evans stacked this number with well-accentuated electronic rhythmic structures supported by cleverly assembled, vividly hearable low-end notes. Once again, sequenced melodies, arpeggiated chord progressions, and synth leads define the complex ambiance that leans to retro-futuristic synthwave even more. This exceptional extended play closes with “Motherlode,” a danceable synth number that further proves why Richard Evans is one of the best synthwave songwriters, composers, and producers on the contemporary scene. “Motherlode” offers more energetic, danceable beats supported with skillfully implemented sub-bass sections, catchy synth sequences, echoic ambiances, and delicate keys. Evan’s calm, soothing, ethereal vocal performance particularly shines in this track, as he emphasizes every segment with such finesse and precision.

You should immediately put “Dream Of The World” on your radar because Richard Evans invested so much time and effort into this material, and his effort resulted in a magnificent song that will especially resonate with true synthwave and synth pop fans. It’s one of those releases you will gladly put on the top of your playlist. “Dream Of The World” is available on all streaming platforms. Don’t miss it!
