Abrasive Trees Announce Headline Tour

Abrasive Trees

Post-Punk/Post-Rock crossover band Abrasive Trees have announced a series of headline shows this autumn with dates in Bath, Plymouth, Totnes and Aldershot.

Described as ‘utterly enticing’ recently by Louder Than War, the live dates build on their successful shows earlier this year and will coincide with a live album and compilation release of their first 5 EPs and singles. The dates are as follows:

Sat 15th Oct · West End Centre · Aldershot (plus Cities in Dust)
Fri 28th Oct · New Lion Brewery · Totnes (plus Oblivion Guest and Fusea)
Sat 29th Oct · Bread & Roses · Plymouth (two sets)
Sat 12th Nov · Moles · Bath (plus Seneca)

The band, led by Matthew Rochford have also announced they will be joined by drummer Will Tyler (RISE/Talitha Rise/Mabonman/Skin Mountain).

‘Will is a superb drummer, multi-instrumentalist and human’ explained Matthew ‘and we’re deeply happy that someone with such a rare understanding of so many genres is joining us ahead of these live shows.  We can’t wait to show him off.’

The band will also be showcasing new material ahead of studio work in the early part of 2023.

Tickets for the tour are all available from the Abrasive Trees Linktree

Abrasive Trees have been described as ‘utterly enticing’ (Louder Than War) and ‘magnificent’ (Aural Aggravation).  Their musical creations display a willingness to experiment alongside a sound that sits loosely within the post-punk aesthetic with definite influences from post-rock, alt-folk and psychedelia.

Creating a visionary, cinematic sound, the band use intertwining guitars, distorted cello and leviathan drums set against stark vocals and spectral spoken-word, Abrasive Trees express an inner world that is at times intense, but ultimately hopeful.

The band consists of Matthew Rochford (guitars and vocals), Ben Roberts (cello and bass), Jay Newton (guitars) and Will Tyler (drums), enhanced by visuals from Jess Wooller.

The project has, to date, collaborated in the studio with Jo-Beth Young (Talitha Rise/RISE), Mark Beazley (Rothko), Steven Hill (Evi Vine), Peter Yates (Fields of The Nephilim), Sebastian Swarm (Lunacy), Laurence Collyer (Diamond Family Archive), Mark Parsons (Eat Lights Become Lights), Lee Friese-Green (Sidi Bou Said) and Sebastian Rochford (Pulled By Magnets/Polar Bear/Patti Smith).
