Yoo Doo Right Reveal New Video For The Failure Of Stiff, Tired Friends

The Failure Of Stiff, Tired Friends is the second single off Yoo Doo Right’s upcoming full-length, A Murmur, Boundless To The East, scheduled for June 10th, 2022 via Mothland.

Today, right before the band kicks off to play the first live show on their upcoming European tour in a about a week, Yoo Doo Rightrevealed the second single Failure Of Stiff, Tired Friends, from the upcoming full-length.

The new single is a doozy krautrock groover if there ever was one. Its engaging drum pattern, clockwork bass line and aeronautical arpeggiators are only topped by its haunting Ennio Morricone-esque guitar theme. The bittersweet instrumental was put into images by director/animator Jared Karnas and is highly recommended for fans of Can, Spiritualized or Beak.

The Yoo Doo Right trio comments “This song meanders, it’s meandering. A patient build. It’s walking alone, feeling alone, late at night. It’s a moment of connection after periods of feeling removed. Or. It’s whatever it makes you feel. Hope people are able to find the time and space to stroll along with it.

After premiering its tracks for hometown fans inside the dome at Société des arts technologiques de Montréal in the Summer of 2020, post-everything outfit Yoo Doo Right knew there was but one way to record A Murmur, Boundless To The East: at world-famous studio Hotel2Tango. To help achieve this vision, the musicians called upon acclaimed record producer, Radwan Ghazi Moumneh (Suuns, Ought, Fly Pan Am), who deftly printed forty-five minutes of gritty experimental rock.

Though dynamics and depth were always core elements in Yoo Doo Right’s musicA Murmur, Boundless To The East reaffirms the notion that the spectrum of sound is in fact infinite. Also thanks to the work of celebrated engineer Seth Manchester, tasked with mixing the opus at Machines With Magnets (Battles, Lightning Bolt, Lingua Ignota) in Pawtucket (RI), as well as that of Matthew Barnhart (FACS, Destroyer, METZ) at Chicago Mastering Services, fans of extremes in music are served with a long-player that fascinates and lingers.

Also featuring inspired contributions from innovative violin player, Jessica Moss (Thee Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra & Tralala Band, Black Ox Orkestar), to compliment percussion, bass, guitar, synthesizers and vocals, A Murmur, Boundless To The East is a must-have for fans of Godspeed You! Black EmperorMy Bloody ValentineMETZ, etc.

Yoo Doo Right‘s (Montréal, CA) wed noisy, melodic guitar parts, effect-heavy synthesizer soundscapes, deep bass grooves and patented percussive furies into a literal wall of sound. In their honest approach to experimentation, they engage with elements of krautrock, shoegaze, post-rock and psychedelia, crafting a unique sound that could be described as a “car crash in slow motion”.

Over the years, Yoo Doo Right have toured all of Canada, the United States as well as Europe, playing festivals such as SXSW, Levitation Psych Fest, M for Montreal, Sled Island and Treefort Festival, while sharing the stage with the likes of Acid Mothers Temple, DIIV, A Place to Bury Strangers, Wooden Shjips, Kikagaku Moyo, FACS, FRIGS and Jessica Moss, amongst others.

Yoo Doo Right’s forthcoming LP, A Murmur, Boundless To The East is all at once a heartfelt salute to infinity and a critique of one’s shortcomings. Out June 10th, 2022 via Mothland.
