American stoner duo Murnau recently released another outstanding composition. Dalia is the fifth single in a row from the series of singles released this year. It showcases the recognizable sound of the group, which spans over several complementary music genres. As usual, Murnau solely relies upon classic stoner maneuvers, but the duo also includes some other ingredients, such as sludge, post-metal, post-rock, shoegaze, grunge, garage rock, alternative rock, and you’ll probably stumble upon some other elements along the way. Murnau gradually shapes the complex sound of the song by adding layer upon layer of themes, riffs, and ambiances. Each layer represents a significant building block of a composition that later defines the omnipresent cathartic atmosphere.
Murnau keeps it raw, abrasive, loud from scratch to finish. However, there are layers of melodies added over the top, which serve as a nice contrast to the rawness. At some points, you’ll also notice a strong presence of psychedelic rock, which pervades the ambiance from all possible directions. These psychedelics are especially notable during the singing parts when the band nurtures a slightly calmer approach to sound. Dalia will unquestionably appeal to all the true fans of stoner, sludge, post-metal, post-rock, and shoegaze music. The single is available for listening on all streaming services.
