I Am The Unicorn Head is one of many bands that popped on the indie scene as a result of the quarantine caused by the pandemic. However, instead of keeping things serious as much as possible, this band felt that the crowd needs more humor in these troubling times, so they took that route. Even the story of how they got together is unique. English musician Kid A looked out for collaborators on Reddit and instantly clicked with Dragon Lord Apocalypse, the US musician who shared nearly the same ideas as Kid A. They swapped their ideas and music over the web and so far created a debut single named Eating Cornbread In Quarantine.
Perhaps Eating Cornbread In Quarantine seems like a funny track, but quite the contrary, it is nearly math rock-infused indie rock composition with serious instrumentations offered by both musicians. I Am The Unicorn Head offers progressive sound, which is not quite common in the contemporary indie scene. The group uses humorous aesthetics, so the music shows up as a surprising element that will unquestionably indulge listening apparatuses of progressive rock fans. Besides math rock and progressive rock, I Am The Unicorn Head also incorporates some jazzy maneuvers but remains loyal to the fundamentals of indie rock from scratch to finish. Eating Cornbread In Quarantine is available on Bandcamp, and YouTube.
