Colorado folk-punk band Doom Scroll have signed with Flail Records, which will release the band’s new album, Exhausted Dialogue, on October 6. The band is offering another sneak preview of the record with its latest single, “Sisyphus,” now streaming eveywhere.

“In Greek mythology, Sisyphus was a king who was condemned to eternally push a boulder up to the top of a hill, only to have it roll back down over and over again,” the band explains. “The song is about being stuck in a Groundhog Day scenario where the monotony and repetition of making a living wage dilutes the feeling of being alive. Instead of working together, capitalism keeps us separated and forces the poor to live in this awful cycle like Sisyphus.”
The new single arrives alongside the announcement that Doom Scroll have signed with Flail Records, joining a roster that includes Bridge City Sinners, Days N Daze and Escape From The Zoo.
“Doom Scroll is a band that’s been on our radar for quite a while. When they sent us the new album and told us they were looking for a label, our eyes bulged out of their sockets like a cartoon frog,” Flail Records says. “We love these folks. For years now they’ve been DIY touring like madmen, relentlessly writing and recording increasingly great records, and maintaining the type of creatively independent ethos that truly sets them apart from other bands. We’re thrilled to be working with them and couldn’t be more excited for people to hear the new record.”
The partnership feels like a natural fit for a band that has handled nearly every part of its career independently since forming in 2020.
“Sisyphus” follows the recent singles “The Ravine” and “Zugzwang.” All three appear on Exhausted Dialogue, Doom Scroll’s first full-length since 2021’s Immoral Compass.

The 11-track album deals with internal and external struggles, the exhaustion of fighting the same battles over and over, and the difficulty of finding any real way out.
“Exhausted Dialogue is an album about internal and external struggle,” vocalist and guitarist Elliot Lozier explains. “Rarely do we find any kind of reprieve when facing these struggles, and it felt like we were beating a dead horse by singing about these topics again and again.”
The album’s title comes from video-game terminology. Players “exhaust” an NPC’s dialogue by repeatedly speaking with the character until there is nothing new left to say—a concept Lozier felt summed up the record’s recurring frustrations and themes.
Doom Scroll recorded Exhausted Dialogue themselves, with Lozier and guitarist Jon Pizarro tracking the album in their bedrooms. Grammy Award-winning engineer Jason Livermore mixed and mastered the record. His credits include Propagandhi’s Supporting Caste, NOFX’s Wolves in Wolves’ Clothing and The Suicide Machines’ War Profiteering Is Killing Us All. Ian Cook of Larry and His Flask also appears on the track “Horsemen.”
Formed in 2020, Doom Scroll brings together Lozier (We the Heathens, Pesky Self, Atrocity Solution, Escape From The Zoo), vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Taylor Dittman (Broken Bow, Hermit Stew), bassist Micah Butler (Chatterbox and the Latter Day Satanists, Helga Pataki), guitarist and producer Jon Pizarro of Dead Work, and drummer Marissa Sendejas (Chad Hates George, formerly of Days N Daze).
Following the release of Exhausted Dialogue, Doom Scroll will head back out on the road for a run through the Midwest and Southeast, ending with an early show at FEST in Gainesville, Florida.
