Today, Bristol’s Grandmas House release their long-awaited debut album, Baby You’re A Winner, via Brace Yourself Records, alongside final single ‘Dance’ and its hypnotic video directed by Clump Collective.
Speaking of the album’s arrival, Grandmas House offer: “We are so excited to finally release our debut album into the world. It feels like a time capsule of all the hard times we’ve faced together, and a testament to the love and friendship the four of us share. We’re so proud of ourselves for what we have created, these are songs to dance, cry and scream along to and we hope everyone loves them as much as we do.”
Alongside the Grandmas House’ album’s arrival comes a final single from it, in the guise of the mesmerising ‘Dance’, and a suitably hypnotic accompanying video that places the album’s eerie unofficial mascot – the headless man himself – front and centre.
Another prime example of the expanded vision across Baby You’re A Winner, ‘Dance’ sees the Grandmas House make deft use of dynamics as Yasmin Berndt’s urgent, rallying vocals collide with tumultuous instrumental breakdowns, snaking guitar leads and blasts of sax from Fat Dog’s Morgan Wallace.
Of ‘Dance’, the band explain: “This song is about feeling low and alone. Feeling reminiscent of times when you weren’t lonely. Maybe because you were in love. It’s a reminder to keep going, whilst dancing the pain away.”
