German DIY duo kamikaze has dropped “Fallout,” a hypnotic new preview from their upcoming debut album, The End, set for release later this year. Hailing from Cologne and Düsseldorf, Jessi and Flo have built a reputation for breaking down boundaries between pop appeal and punk attitude with what they call “soft riot pop.”
“Fallout” revolves around the superstitious feeling of being cursed by a past experience. Sonically minimalist yet incredibly haunting, the track relies on slow intensification rather than a loud explosion. Featuring shimmering guitars, ghostly synth textures, and a stoic beat, the song channels the gloom of The Smiths and the vulnerability of Daughter. With a DIY ethos that extends from 4-track recordings to self-produced videos, kamikaze proves they are a determined counter-movement to industry posturing. “Fallout” is a masterclass in aestheticized darkness and emotional endurance.
