Italy-based experimental noise rock band Baratro unveil ‘Pick a Side‘, first single from ‘No Comply‘, their upcoming second album due for release on Supernatural Cat on May 8th, 2026.
‘No Comply‘ was born from the addition of cellist Matteo Bennici to the lineup, already a guest on the previous album ‘Sweet Smell of Unrest’. With this new quartet formation, Baratro — featuring Dave Curran (ex Unsane), Federico Hartridge (ex Council of Rats), and Luca Antonozzi (ex Marnero, ex Laghetto) — rewrote their compositional process, writing and playing together from the very beginning.
«The connection with Matteo was immediate and brought us straight to the rehearsal space, where we worked with no clear goal except to play music free from any constraints. Ideas flowed naturally and, within a few months, the songs that make up ‘No Comply‘ were born», the band says.
The album was written while the band watched in horror the escalation of the genocide in Gaza and the rise of fascism on a global scale. These feelings inevitably poured into the music, running through the underlying theme of the entire record: ‘No Comply‘ is the band’s direct testimony in the face of the darkest tendencies of our time, and a firm refusal to give in to despair.
Baratro are a Milan-based band formed by Dave Curran (ex Unsane), Federico Hartridge (ex Council of Rats) and Luca Antonozzi (ex Marnero, ex Laghetto), born in the orbit of the Milan squat Cox18. Following the EP ‘Terms and Conditions‘ (Sangue Dischi, 2021) and their debut album ‘The Sweet Smell of Unrest‘ (Improved Sequence, 2024), in 2024 the band expanded their lineup with cellist Matteo Bennici, with whom they composed their second album, ‘No Comply‘ (Supernatural Cat, 2026).
