US dream-pop duo Magic Wands have released a remix of their 2025 song ‘Moonshadow’ as a new single today (13th March). Originally issued exactly a year ago and also included on their ‘Cascades’ album released in October, the new version has been remixed by Canadian ambient electronic duo Delerium and is taken from a Magic Wands remix EP scheduled for June.
“The song was inspired by the movie ‘Dracula’, the moon and travelling on an underground train,” explain Magic Wands. “Delerium have taken it to another dimension. Their remix has a haunting quality that fits perfectly.”
“It was nice to be able to slow things down and find a perfect meeting place between the vibes of older Delerium and the stargazing guitar sounds of Magic Wands,” says Rhys Fulber of Delerium.
Originally formed in Nashville by vocalists/guitarists Dexy and Chris Valentine, but now based in Los Angeles, Magic Wands are known for a shimmering, dreamy sound that melds elements of shoegaze, dream-pop, post-punk and goth. Their music utilises heavily textured guitars, synth drones and ethereal vocals to conjure an otherworldly atmosphere, plus song lyrics that are emotionally engaging.
Imbued with the spirit of centuries-old poetry, gothic romance and myth, their 2025 album ‘Cascades’ pulses with post-punk and dream-pop sounds shot through with lingering shadows of the old world, bridging the sound of their 2012 debut album ‘Aloha Moon’ with recent releases. It includes the original version of ‘Moonshadow’.
