‘Weak Spells‘ is the brand new EP from weirdo punks Luxury Apartments. These five tracks weave between psych synth-punk and noise rock, played with street level hardcore ferocity and loaded with sardonic lyricism.
“I wanted to make a dark record to portray how I was feeling about the state of the world,” vocalist Matt Turner tells us. “I wanted to try and give a message of how it feels living with your own issues and the greater issues going on and how those two correlate. I’m talking about genocide, world leaders being pedos in some kind of cult and how to even begin to register all that and go about a normal life.”
Now signed to seminal UK act Gallows own label Venn Records (Bob Vylan, High Vis, Meryl Streek) and working with Fucked Up drummer and producer Jonah Falco, the London four-piece (featuing ex-members of Chubby and the Gang and Bad Breeding) have been notching up the credible punk cosigns. This is mainly thanks to Luxury Apartments tearing up venues across the UK with their boisterous live show and hardcore anthems. Now they’re hitting the road with fellow Londoners Rifle and Turner can’t wait!
“We’ve been huge fans of Rifle ever since we first saw them play the Camden Underworld with High Vis and The Chisel back in 2022. Then we were lucky enough to support both Rifle and The Chisel last year. Since then we’ve become good pals. As soon as it was on the cards to tour together we jumped at the chance. It just so happens that their debut album is one of the best punk albums I’ve listened to in recent times and their live show is bananas!”
