Montreal’s six-piece The Fake Friends launch the lead-up to their debut LP, Let’s Not Overthink This, with the single “A Sucker Born Every Minute” on Stomp Records. The track is a sharp, melodic jolt, threading dance-punk tension through a thick post-punk backbone, landing somewhere between Parquet Courts and Culture Abuse. Built for both the floor and the headphones, the rhythmic and hook-forward song captures emotional candor, circling themes of self-recognition and running from responsibility. This intentional “mess” offers the first look at their cohesive and powerful full-length effort.
