Deftones have dropped the official music video for their latest single, “My Mind Is a Mountain,” the first preview from their highly anticipated tenth studio album, Private Music, due August 22 via Reprise / Warner Records.
The video is a frenetic visual complement to the track’s urgent energy—clocking in at just over three minutes, it’s a barrage of strobes, jump cuts, and high-voltage performance shots. Edited by Rizz of industrial-pop duo Vowws (frequent Deftones collaborators), the clip mirrors the track’s sharp dynamic swings and heavy emotional pull, reinforcing the band’s signature blend of shoegaze atmosphere and alternative metal punch.
Released last week, “My Mind Is a Mountain” exemplifies Deftones’ continued evolution more than two decades into their career. With Private Music, the Sacramento titans once again partner with producer Nick Raskulinecz, returning to the chemistry that drove fan-favorite albums like Diamond Eyes and Koi No Yokan.
The video offers a first glimpse into the Private Music aesthetic—minimalist, dark, and emotionally charged. If this lead single is any indication, Private Music promises to be a powerful new chapter in the Deftones legacy. Watch the video now and prepare for the full album drop this August.
