Mia Vita Violenta Released New Album “A Matter Of Perception”

Mia Vita Violenta (Paris, France), formed in 2012 as an indie rock trio consisting of Charlie Fannière (bass/vocals), Romain Saccoccio (guitar/vocals), and Corentin Sarkadi (drums). Their sound was influenced by indie / post-rock / noise bands from the 1990s, such as Unwound and Blonde Redhead — from whom they owe their Latin name.

After releasing two self-produced EPs in 2013 and 2014, the line-up changes in 2015 with the addition of new bassist Hugo Lefebvre and second guitarist Paul Deligny (Nordkapp, Saar), who will shape the band’s sound along a more flayed line. Grey Seas, the band’s third EP, was released in 2017 as a result of this new union, and it polished its formula, made its songs more sophisticated, and established Mia Vita Violenta as one of the bands to watch. This EP, recorded/mixed/mastered by Camille Jamain (Enob, Le Réveil Des Tropiques, Foudre!, Norkapp), takes them to the next level with its sophisticated uniformity and precise production.

Following a series of shows and tours in France, Switzerland, and Belgium, as well as a lengthy period of composition, Mia Vita Violenta and Valère Brisard (Mime, Crève Coeur) entered Studio 89 in Burgundy to record their debut album A Matter of Perception. Camille Jamain also handled mastering, which is consistent with the band’s sound.

After the departure of its original drummer in 2023, Alain Duguine (Manger les oiseaux) will take over behind the drums, starting in a new era in the band’s existence.

Today, they release A Matter of Perception, an album that follows in the footsteps of Grey Seas, expanding its universe on LP format, pushing the cursors to their limits, deepening passionate ambiences, and magnifying furious explosions.

A Matter of Perception could be the story of a mirage, a reality altering filter that keeps us from seeing things the way they truly are. A frantic, clouded vision transforms every moment into a trap and every path into a dead end. It’s the narrative of a never ending search for solutions to life’s mysteries, as well as the pursuit of a glimmer of light shining through the smoke.
