Flame – Gravity

Gravity” is the latest release by Flame, an outstanding music outlet operated by Fiammetta Nisio, a Scottish singer-songwriter based in Edinburgh. It’s her first piece of work in 2024, arriving as an adequate follow-up of “Pride Of The Lamb,” an exceptional extended play release published last year that you should also check out as soon as possible. Still, this composition arrives with many innovations in songwriting, composing, arranging, and producing, showcasing the natural progression of an already incredible singer-songwriter. Lyrically, it’s a song born from a moment of deep uncertainty. It explores various sentiments, moods, situations, and circumstances, so it’s a highly relatable composition that will immediately resonate with the broader auditorium. Sonically, Flame combines a singer-songwriter approach with several complementary music genres to illustrate such intimate, profound, meaningful, luxuriant sonic imagery. Perhaps alt-folk comes to mind first, but you’ll unquestionably notice how some of the finest properties borrowed from music genres such as alt-pop, folk-pop, indie, and soul found their place in this sonic equation. She uses all these additional elements as more than necessary enhancements, accentuations, decorations, and other details to elevate her latest composition to new heights while simultaneously remaining loyal to the primary sonic direction. Therefore, these experimentations with different approaches and complementary music genres result in a memorable dark ballad that will immediately resonate with the alt-folk auditorium and beyond.

As soon as you press play, you’ll notice that Flame put heart and soul into this composition. “Gravity” arrives with a perfect structure, garnered with many profoundly detailed segments, brilliant ideas, and marvelous orchestrations. Each vocal and sonic maneuver has its place and purpose in this sonic equation, making “Gravity” such a mesmerizing composition worth repeating over and over again. From the onset, Flame creates an intimate atmosphere where her incredible, poetic, storytelling lyricism shines in the limelight. Her soulful, passionate, sincere, confident, emotional, and powerful vocal performance conveys the message in an ear-appealing way while elevating the entire song to new heights, commanding attention, and guiding listeners from scratch to finish. Her impressive vocal range seamlessly balances low, mid, and high notes, emphasizing everything she intended to achieve with this song with so much precision and finesse. Besides decorating all those segments and instrumentations, she contributes more than the necessary emotional depth and complexity to an already intricate song structure. In the meantime, the guitar interplay plays a significant role in shaping such an otherwordly ambiance for all the vocals to shine upon. You’ll notice how catchy, memorable, engaging chord progressions delivered on acoustic guitar resonate on one side while the other shines with arpeggiated chord progressions, harmonies, melodies, themes, accentuations, and other sonic maneuvers. These guitar works create a calm, soothing, relaxing, ethereal ambiance that immediately wraps around the listening apparatus and refuses to let go long after this song ends. Also, it’s nearly mindblowing how all these guitar layers articulate without overwhelming each other while suiting vocals harmoniously.

There are also equally impressive basslines rumbling beneath guitar layers, providing more than necessary heaviness, clarity, and depth while serving as a glue that binds all those mentioned orchestrations together. These low-ends are rich, deep, dense, and heavy, providing more groove, details, and power to such a gentle, calm, soothing, ethereal composition. Each instrumentation has its place and purpose in this sonic equation, creating a number worth repeating over and over again. Flame has created a soulful, meaningful, emotional, powerful alt-pop composition that also embraces all the fundamental elements of so many complementary styles, demonstrating her fascinating dedication to the craft. The way she conveys this message through hypnotizing vocal harmonies goes beyond comprehension so many times throughout the entire track. She poured all her experience, knowledge, creativity, talent, and skills, so if you’re into some profoundly detailed alt-pop music with a meaningful message, you should immediately place “Gravity” on your music radar. The single is available on all streaming platforms.
