San Francisco-based indie-rock band The Moondrops released their album ‘Only A Dream,’ on Friday, November 22.
‘Only A Dream,’ the band’s first full-length album, explores feelings of loneliness and introspection. From the opening tracks “Up To You” and “Is It My Fault,” the lyrics reflect on past relationships and thoughts on accountability, contrasting against the band’s bright instrumentation. Descending both thematically and sonically, the album chronicles an inner dialogue as delayed guitars and syncopated drums circle each other and regret turns into paralysis and then stagnation. The title track “Only A Dream” offers a glimmer of reassurance that change is inevitable and the hope for a new horizon is imminent, just like waking up from a bad dream.
The Moondrops consist of Hussain Khan (Guitar/Vocals), Craig Lager (Guitar/Vocals), Alex Bru (Drums), and Josh May (Bass). Having been in the Bay Area DIY scene since 2017, The Moondrops have grown and evolved throughout their career to a new era that truly reflects the inspiration and passion of the project.
