Will Sims – Hello EP

Hello” is the latest EP by Will Sims, an outstanding singer-songwriter from Baltimore, Maryland. Consisting of two new tracks, three new renditions of songs taken from his previous works, and a cover of another Maryland-based band, this exceptional artist continues to push the boundaries of modern music. Lyrically, Will Sims covers a wide array of themes, such as love, relationships, friendships, various emotions, moods, situations, and circumstances, making “Hello” EP a relatable material that will unquestionably resonate with the broader auditorium. Soundwise, he combines a singer-songwriter approach with several different but complementary music genres. Perhaps alternative rock comes to mind first, but don’t be surprised if you stumble upon some of the finest properties borrowed from acoustic rock, folk rock, indie rock, indie pop, etc. He uses all these additional elements as more than necessary enhancements accentuations, decorations, and other details that undoubtedly uplift this collection of songs to an entirely new level while he remains loyal to the primary sonic direction.

With the initial notes and beats, it’s more than vividly hearable that Will Sims invested heart and soul into this material. The title track, “Hello,” is more than a rock-solid proof of his dedication to the craft. A song about anxiety when you first meet the right person, it blends subtle, calm, soothing, relaxing, ethereal Americana sonic maneuvers with catchy, memorable, engaging chord progressions. These guitar works serve as an adequate backdrop for Will Sims’s outstanding vocal performance. His soulful, sincere, confident, powerful performance gives emotional depth and complexity to an already intricate structure, making this number such an exceptional listening experience worth repeating over and over again. The rhythm section propels this marvelous song to new heights by keeping the remainder of the instrumentations in line while dictating groove and depth. It’s such a great opener that showcases what you might expect from the remainder of the material. “Axiom,” another new song, speaks about s about the principle of not allowing people to drag you down, despite how you might feel about them. It’s another powerful composition that arrives with a perfect structure, garnered with many detailed segments, brilliant ideas, and marvelous orchestrations. Once again, the interplay between guitars shapes such a profoundly melodic and mesmerizing ambiance, suitable for even the pickiest music enthusiasts. The addition of piano makes this song even more pleasing to the ears, as this particular instrument perfectly pairs guitar layers. In the meantime, the equally complex, vividly hearable, warm-sounding basslines rumble beneath, offering more than necessary heaviness, clarity, and depth while the tastefully assembled, flawlessly performed, well-accentuated beats, breaks, fills, and other percussive acrobatics deliver groove and dynamics. It’s a beautiful composition carrying a meaningful message that will undoubtedly resonate with the crowd.

After two marvelous new tracks, Will Sims offers his rendition of Hotspur’s “If The Walls Could Talk,” an unquestionable classic from their 2009 album “You Should Know Better By Now.” Sims absolutely nailed it with this one, as he delivers a fresh take on their song that could undoubtedly stand side by side with the original. He thought about even the tiniest details and nuances, not to mention that some instrumental arrangements and additional acoustic guitar layers perfectly apply to the song’s structure. Sims also included new renditions of “Lovesick,” “Sometimes,” and “Will You Remember,” three tracks taken from his previous works. Garnered with the tremendous sound quality that meets all the trends in modern music production, Will Sims breathed fresh air into some of his finest songs. “Lovesick” sounds marvelous, with its hypnotic themes, melodies, arpeggiated chord progressions, and profoundly groovy rhythmic patterns, while Sims’s impressive vocal performance commands attention and guides the listener throughout the entire track. “Sometimes” continues in the same tradition, but even more hypnotic, ethereal, otherwordly ambiance achieved with many acoustic, and semi-acoustic guitar layers, punchy low-ends, percussions, and groovy rhythmic patterns. This rendition carries those Americana, southern rock, and folk rock vibes, and this style suits Will Sims pretty well. This marvelous EP closes with “Will You Remember,” a magnificent ballad that brings even more calm instrumentations to the table. Sims’s voice sounds so powerful here, as his impressive vocal range seamlessly balances low, mid, and high notes with such precision and finesse while the cleverly arranged chord progressions immensely support his performance. It’s such a perfect closing track that reveals even more layer with each segment, and you’ll solely enjoy this rendition.

Will Sims has created another outstanding collection of songs that will unquestionably resonate with the broader auditorium. With two new incredible tracks, an outstanding Hotspur cover, and three classics presented in a completely new light. Sims breaks the rules and shapeshifts the boundaries of alternative rock music by delivering brilliant ideas and impressive musicianship, showcasing his dedication to the craft, experience, knowledge, skills, and talent. “Hello” EP is an alternative rock masterpiece you should immediately place on your radar.
