Points – Hey

Hey” is the latest track by Points, an outstanding Baldock-based band. It’s their first piece of work this year, serving as an adequate follow-up of “Adapt,” their extended play release unleashed in 2018. Still, this particular track brings some innovations in writing, composing, arranging, and producing. It unquestionably showcases the natural progression of a band that already sounded great. Soundwise, Points combine many different but complementary rock subgenres together, making such a rich and luxurious sound that will appeal to your listening apparatus no matter which style you prefer. Perhaps alternative rock comes to mind first, but the band fully stacked this composition with some of the finest properties borrowed from indie rock, garage rock, grunge, post-punk, post-rock, and other similar styles. They wisely planned everything, so many of these additional subgenres serve as more than necessary enhancements, accentuations, decorations, and other details that undoubtedly uplift their music on an entirely new level while the band remains loyal to the primary sonic direction. Therefore, these experimentations with many different but complementary music styles resulted in a catchy, engaging, memorable, mesmerizing alternative/indie rock track worth repeating over and over again. It’s one of those songs you don’t want to miss.

As soon as you press play, you’ll notice that the interplay between rhythm and lead guitar plays a significant role in shaping rich and luxurious ambiance in this sonic equation. You’ll immediately hear how catchy leads, themes, melodies, harmonies, and other sonic maneuvers shine on one side while the other resonates with cleverly constructed riffs and chord progressions. This guitar interplay acts as a perfect backdrop for all the vocals to shine upon. Speaking of vocals, the tremendous performance commands attention and guides the listening apparatus while emphasizing all the segments and orchestrations. The impressive vocal range seamlessly balances low, mid, and high notes, ensuring nothing but a pleasant listening experience. This sonic voyage wouldn’t be this good without a rock-solid rhythm section. You’ll notice how equally complex, vividly hearable, warm-sounding basslines rumble beneath all the guitar layers, offering more than necessary heaviness, clarity, and depth while binding all the orchestrations with drums. In the meantime, the experience drummed keeps everything in line while dictating groove and pace with cleverly arranged beats, breaks, fills, and other percussive acrobatics. Each band member plays a crucial role in this fine piece of artistry, so the fascinating listening experience is more than guaranteed.

With the initial notes and beats, you’ll hear how Points thought about everything while writing, composing, arranging, recording, and producing their latest song. “Hey” is an alternative/indie rock masterpiece that will appeal to even the pickiest fans thanks to all the brilliant ideas and outstanding musicianship invested in it. The song arrives with a perfect song structure, stacked with many detailed segments where all the knowledge, experience, skills, and talent shine in the limelight. It’s a perfect song that you should immediately place on your radar. “Hey” is available on all streaming platforms. Don’t miss it!
